Sender ID registration is not required in France. Instead, we approve all senders ourselves: PureSMS's own KYC and Sender ID verification applies to every account before a single message is sent for your safety and security.

  • On direct connections, alphanumeric sender IDs are not allowed, MSISDN senders are allowed, the flow is MT with MO in response if needed, MO-initiated flows with mandatory MT responses are not allowed, and short codes cannot be promoted in media such as TV, radio or websites.
  • On zero-rated premium SMS (PSMS France), alphanumeric sender IDs are allowed, MSISDN senders are not, the flow is MO with a mandatory MT in response, and the short code can be promoted in media such as TV, radio and websites.
  • The af2m Ethics Commission for Business Messaging adopted a new charter on May 29, 2024, applicable from March 1, 2026, covering rules for all actors sending or receiving A2P Push SMS, conversational SMS (Time2Chat) and RCS; the charter is available in French and English at https://af2m.org/charte-business-messaging/.
  • From 2025 French mobile operators apply penalties more systematically for fraud or smishing, ranging from 3,000 euros to over 10,000 euros depending on the number of fraudulent cases reported to 33700, and these penalties can be passed on to the responsible sender.
  • From March 1, 2026, spaces and special characters will no longer be permitted in alphanumeric sender IDs, so new sender IDs should use only letters and numbers.
