Compliance in Ghana

  • Sending times: MTN does not allow promotional traffic from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and full liability for any regulatory fine resulting from messages sent outside this window is borne by the sender.
  • Registration: Gambling and betting traffic is allowed, but the sender ID and content must be verified in advance.
  • MTN applies strict rules to sender IDs approved for marketing use: any transactional SMS sent using a sender ID preregistered for marketing or promotional purposes is charged at one USD per SMS.
