Compliance in Syria

  • Restricted content: Marketing and promotional content (blocked by operators)
  • Registration: It is recommended to register all message contents to avoid blocking or filtering.
  • Generic and numeric sender addresses are not permitted; only alphanumeric sender addresses using the brand's name should be used, for example Company X for Company X's traffic.
  • Currently only OTT brands and banks are permitted to send A2P SMS traffic into Syria, and only OTP and transactional message content is allowed.
  • Message content must reflect the sending brand: for example, a password message for a company must be sent with that brand's sender address; traffic not following these guidelines will be blocked by the operator.
  • There are no current restrictions on betting or gambling content.
  • Meta traffic (WhatsApp, Facebook) may only be sent directly from Meta to the exclusive suppliers in Syria (MTN Syria and Syriatel); no other aggregator or wholesale route may carry it.
