Compliance in Thailand

  • Restricted content: Adult content · Political content · Gambling · Religious content · Money lending · Spam
  • Registration: From 1 January 2025 the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) requires all URLs sent towards Thailand, both existing and new, to be registered and whitelisted before campaigns, to protect Thai consumers from fraudulent traffic. The sender must register and use a URL within their own domain, and the sender ID and URL must match the content. A verification template for SMS containing links must be provided. Generic sender names like Notice and Verify must be re-registered and clearly linked to a business or service for approval.
  • The message and service must be consistent with the sender's registered business or service.
  • Dynamic links can be used as long as the landing page is provided so the NCSA can review and approve it.
  • Branded static and branded dynamic shortlinks can be approved if the landing page is provided for review, and both the shortlink and landing page domain must be owned by or related to the brand.
  • Public shortlinks like Bit.ly are strictly forbidden.
  • The submitted URL must be the actual link the recipient will access; redirect websites or mechanisms are not permitted, and the SMS should direct users to a static landing page that can be verified without redirection to another destination such as Line or an app.
  • If a redirecting URL is used, the sender must clarify how many redirect hops occur before the final destination, and each redirection step must be reviewed for compliance.

These rules are what we generally check against, however they may not be up-to-date. We'll always keep you informed of what is needed for each destination throughout any registration process.
