## Sender ID Types

### Alphanumeric (Your brand name as the sender) — After registration

- Your brand name as the sender, with no reply path.

### Long code (VMN / phone number) — Varies by network

- Needed for two-way messaging and replies.

### Short code (Five-digit sender) — Varies by network

- Best for high-volume campaigns.

## Compliance in Uganda

- **Sending times:** MTN does not allow promotional traffic to be submitted from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, and any SMS sent outside this timeframe that results in a regulatory fine is fully the customer's liability.
- **Restricted content:** Gambling · Adult content · Religious content
- MTN has deployed very strict rules on the use of sender IDs approved for marketing.
- Any transactional SMS sent using a sender ID preregistered for marketing or promotional purposes will be charged at one USD per SMS on MTN.
